Hi everyone, I am on a medication which has been discontinued by the company that makes Disulfiram (Antabuse) which is a combination medication that is used to treat certain mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, depression and schizophrenia. My doctor has prescribed Antabuse because it has been shown to be very effective in reducing the intensity of depression and anxiety and has been very helpful in controlling the symptoms of these conditions. So, I am currently using the medication with a dose of 25 mg as the dosage is 1/2 of the prescribed dosage which is the maximum dosage of the medication. The dose should be prescribed at about the same time every day. I do not understand how this medication can be used to treat these conditions as it is not available as a pill. I am worried that this can become a chronic condition, or that it will become permanent and will be hard to control. I am also worried that the medication has caused or will cause permanent damage to my nerves and therefore my ability to work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, i have been on Antabuse for about 8 years and i have been dealing with a number of mental health issues. In my experience, it is not uncommon for people to experience anxiety and depression due to their underlying condition. So i would suggest you to get a prescription and see a psychiatrist who would be able to give you a diagnosis of the disorder and then make an informed decision about your treatment. If this is not possible, you can contact a friend who can refer you to a specialist who can help you find a suitable treatment plan. ThanksHi,i was prescribed this medication from a friend who is a psychiatrist and i have been using it for about 8 years. I have also been taking the medication for about a year with little side effects. I have been prescribed disulfiram as i want to be able to use it as much as i can at the time of starting to take it. I have been on the medication since 2006 and the dose has been increased to 1 mg per day. The side effects are not bad but i have had side effects from the medication which have also made me feel like a zombie. I have never taken any medication in my life and i have never had a headache. The medication is so cheap so i don't even know if i can use it. The only side effect i have had from it is i have had to stop taking it because it was affecting my mood. The only other side effect i have had from it is i started having these frequent headaches. I have been on disulfiram for about 3 weeks now and my headache has only been getting worse. I am very concerned about the side effects and will definitely be keeping this up as soon as possible. Please help out! Thank you, S.
